It is all because of Jesus that we speak of God the way we do.
It is all because of Jesus that we have accesss to a deep and intimate relationship with God.
Because of Jesus we share the heart of God for ourselves and for our world.
"It's always a love game: God's love for the world calling out an answering love from us, enabling us to discover that God not only happens to love us but that he is love itself."
It is all because of Jesus "that we find ourselves called to live the way we do."
It is because of Jesus and through Jesus that we understand the new law and find the instructions for how we were made to live and be fully satisfied.
Not suprisingly I find myself drawn to John 13 this morning...
"It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end." John 13:1
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35
"Look hard at Jesus, especially as he goes to his death, and you will discover more about God than you could ever have guessed from studying the infinite shining heavens or the moral law within your own conscience."
This takes me back to the first sentence in 57 Words: "Jesus is brilliant."
ReplyDeleteThis rescue operation is the most beautiful, intricate plan ever. It's so insanely genius that it feels unbearably awkward and shorthanded to use words. So I'll stick with Darrell and keep it simple: Jesus is brilliant!
I find myself laughing at the simplicity of a plan I will never fully understand.

I underlined the same highlights you mentioned in your post. Every now and then I feel emotionally aware to a limited extent (of course) of how good and loving God is. He's always better or gooder or move loving than I expect or imagine. A lot of the convoluted, philosophical quandries I find in life and scripture are always absolutely swallowed up when I filter them through the truth that God is the essence of beauty, love, grace and goodness. If He's that good (and he is) things make much more sense to me philosophically and certainly things make more sense heartwise.
